Creative idea concept.

You’re showing up to work every day to bring your ideas to light and you feel like you’re on the right track, but do you ever wonder if you’re making the right kind of progress to get to where you want to be?

It’s wonderful to create freely and without restraint but there does come a point where despite the creative joys of free idea play, you really do just need to buckle down and get things done. Specifically, the right kinds of things to get you to where you want to be.

Creating some big goals is about getting real with your Talent and your capabilities. It’s about setting yourself up for success and making a solid plan to get there. It’s a great process to go through. Start with some big picture thinking.

1. Think bigger than big! The Sky’s the Limit.

You own your ideas, keep creativity alive

Get out there with your head up high for ideas. The sky may be the limit but what if you can think beyond the sky. Making your dream come true, and the people you want to inspire with your ideas. They should be your ultimate goal. Have you ever asked yourself these questions;

  • Who do I want to be?
  • What kind of work do I want to create?
  • What do I want to achieve?
  • How many people do I want to impact with my ideas?

Think long term (at least 5 years) and dream big. The answers to these questions will be your starting point. They will be the basis for your goals and ultimately for what you achieve as whoever you are and whatever you want to be, so take your time and dig deep.

2. Get specific about how you’re going to get there

Dreams are great but they’re nothing without action. It’s time to set some real goals about how you’re going to get there.

Make your goals specific and measurable. If you want to grow yourideas, by how much? If you want to experiment with new mediums, which ones specifically and how?

Creativity is your imagination and how your’re going to make it get an impact in the lives of people around you…

Even with specific goals and deadlines it’s easy to get lost in the busy-ness of day to day work. Its normal if you get setbacks and failures but never let that over shadow your dream. Make each task specific and easy to achieve. It could be as simple as drafting an email to send to someone or as big as completing an entire artwork but make everyday count!
